Welcome back to the 2nd 2None Podcast today under our American Negro Heritage series we talk how The Freedmen’s Bureau was one of the most important and misunderstood institutions in American history. Created after the Civil War, the Freedmen’s Bureau was designed to help formerly enslaved people transition into freedom by providing education, housing assistance, food, medical care, and legal protection. But the story of the Freedmen’s Bureau also reveals how resistance, racism, and political compromise weakened Reconstruction. In this video, we explain what the Freedmen’s Bureau was, why it mattered, how it helped Negro families, veterans, and communities, and why its early shutdown still affects America today. Understanding the Freedmen’s Bureau helps us understand land loss, wealth gaps, and unfinished justice in the United States.
